Buggy Tour in Punta Cana — Mud, Cave Swim and Macao Beach

Round-trip hotel transfer, buggy rental, helmet and goggles, bilingual guide, cave entrance, plantation tasting and bottled water. You only need closed shoes, swimwear, a towel and clothes you don't mind getting muddy.

Departures run every day at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM; the 8:00 AM shift is the driest, the coolest and the least crowded on the trail.

Pick-up at your resort lobby in Bávaro, Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Uvero Alto or Macao, then a short transfer to our countryside base near Macao. After the safety briefing and a practice loop you take the wheel of your own two-seat buggy.

The circuit runs about 45 minutes through sugar-cane fields, red-dirt village roads and jungle track before the first stop: a Dominican plantation where you taste fresh coffee, cacao, mamajuana and see how local cigars are rolled.

Next comes the freshwater Taíno cave — a natural cenote where you climb down and swim in cool, clear water. The tour finishes on the sand at Macao Beach, the only wild, undeveloped beach left in the Punta Cana area, before the muddy ride back to base and the drive to your hotel.

A buggy seats two people side by side under a roll cage — the right choice for couples, families and anyone who prefers not to drive alone. An ATV (quad) is single or double saddle and feels faster and more exposed. Both follow the same route and cost the same with us.

If you are travelling with children under 16, choose the buggy: kids ride belted in beside an adult driver instead of holding on behind a quad.

Resort tour desks and online resellers usually list the same countryside buggy tour between $79 and $119 USD per person, because each booking passes through two or three intermediaries. Booking direct with us the price is $45 USD per adult and $30 USD per child, with nothing added at the base.

There is no fuel surcharge, no mandatory tip and no hidden park fee. The only optional extra is a private buggy for your group, which we quote on WhatsApp.

Buggy tours run all year round. December to April is drier and dustier; May to November brings short afternoon showers that make the trail muddier and, honestly, more fun. Rain almost never cancels a departure — we only reschedule for storms.

Wear closed shoes, swimwear under old clothes, and bring a towel, sunscreen and a change of clothes for the ride back. Leave anything you can't wash behind: goggles help, but the red Dominican dust gets everywhere.
