Macao Beach arrival
The final stretch is the best. You drive along a ridge and then drop onto Macao Beach, a long stretch of golden sand with consistent surf and a few fried-fish shacks. You get 20-30 minutes to swim, take photos and watch local surfers. There are no big resorts here, which is why it feels different from Bávaro Beach. The waves can be strong, so we advise guests to swim near the group and listen to the guide.
Honest pros and cons
Pros: great value for a half-day, real off-road driving, the cave swim is unique, Macao Beach is photogenic, and hotel pick-up is included. Cons: you will get dirty, the plantation stop is short, photo packages are extra, and the beach break can feel rushed if you are a slow swimmer.
